Its been a LONG few days here at the hospital, so I thought I would write a quick blog post to show you some pics and catch you guys up on a few things that have been going on. Im not going to go into too much detail here since I will be posting a labor and delivery video soon... but I still thought an update would be nice! :)
So as alot of you know, Alaina was 36 1/2 weeks old when I had her. She was slightly premature, so she has been having some trouble keeping her temperature stable since she was born. We have been here since August 5th (the day she was born) and its now... August 10th! Im crossing my fingers that today is the day we get to go home.... but Im not going to get my hopes up too much. haha. Im just glad she is alive and doing well!!!
It was a suprise that she did decide to come early... and my pregnancy went SO smoothly i thought for sure that she would be a late baby.... at least into September... but I was wrong. As alot of you know from my other Pregnancy vlogs I started getting really REALLY bad heartburn that brought be to tears. It didn't let up at all, and i ended up going into the hospital twice for it (the 3rd and 4th). There was no other signs of problems except for the "heartburn" The doctors didn't really know what was up. The next morning (the 5th) is when i started feeling different pains at like 6am... and new that it was probably the day. I checked in... and that's when they found out I had preclampsia... which is really hard on the placenta, and the liver. It wasn't heartburn i was having... it was liver problems! She came SUPER fast as soon as I was checked in because my body was rejecting the placenta (it looked SUPER messed up when it came out... not normal at all) I had no signs of the preclampsia AT ALL that's why we didn't see it coming. Being that I did have this condition... my blood platelets were low... which means my blood wouldn't clot... so the epidural was out the window.....as soon as they broke my water I went from a 5 to a 10 and ready to push so fast that they had no time to give me drugs either. (My worst nightmare came true) It was very hard.... but seeing her made it all worth it. :)
Now we are working on getting her body temp stabalized so we can go home. this has been a HARD task, and its very frustrating... but hopefully soon things will even out.
Keep checking my vlog channel in the next week to see the full labor and delivery story! :) It was MUCH different than I ever would have planned! When they say not to plan too much on how you want your delivery to go... I couldn't agree more. I never would have thought I could or would do a natural birth... but I had no choice! I would say, have a good plan, but keep an open mind because I was SOOO caught off guard and it was really hard for me to accept...which made it much harder to go into delivery!
thanks for reading!
