I recently ordered this Neutral Palette by the Balm on Hautelook.com! Not that I really needed it... but hey, you can't have too many neutral eye shadows! LOL. I was excited to see how much I liked this compared to the Naked 2 palette by Urban Decay. Here are my thoughts!
The Balm palette is around $36.00 to $38.00 and the Urban Decay palettes are closer to $50.00 a piece! The differences don't differ too much but I do feel like the Urban Decay shadows are better quality. The Balm palette is slightly more powdery than the UD palette... but not to a degree that drives me crazy.
As far as the color selection, I will say The Balm palette is better and I feel more thought went into the colors chosen. I feel like every single color has a purpose and If I were to travel I wouldn't have to bring any other colors. The Balm palette is something that I can pack and be very confident. When it comes to my UD naked 2... I dislike that they don't have a brow color, and I also don't like that there is very limited matte selection. The balm palette has matte and shimmer colors. The balm palette also has a wide variety of cool and warm colors. The Naked 2 is a majority cool and the only warm colors are light. Another pro to The Balm palette is that there is a plum/purple. Plum to me is considered a neutral shade and it always seems that companies leave this color out of nude palettes and I hate it! Plum is a color I wear VERY frequently and I LOVE that this palette includes it!
Also, one thing I love about The Balm palette is that you can make any eyebrow color imaginable.
Blonde hair: Sultry
Light/Medium Brown: Sultry and Sleek
Dark Brown and Black: Sleek
Strawberry blonde: Sultry with a little bit of sexy
Dark brown red: Sleek with a little bit of sexy (this is what I use for my brows)
I love the fact that this palette is SO versatile. I feel like I can do more with this palette and I prefer the colors. Like I said, I feel like the UD shadows are slightly better quality but the balm shadows last a long time and are still very vibrant and pigmented as well.... just more powdery. I feel as though The Balm palette fits my needs more especially for travel. I will travel with this palette always now. If I went back in time.... I would probably skip the UD Naked 2 and go with The Balm for these reasons!
Thanks for reading!!
